Robert Kennedy’s Political Action Committee, or PAC, is rolling in the money.
Just hours after RFK announced his independent run for president in Philadelphia, the PAC’s coffers got flooded with donations from supporters and voters who, frankly, can’t stand either Biden or Trump, the presumed nominees for president in 2024.
$11.28 million was raised within six hours of the announcement, according to American Values 2024, Kennedy’s PAC. The PAC has raised almost $30 million to date.
“Millions of independent-minded Americans are seeing through the most powerful censorship and propaganda campaign against any candidate in American political history,” said PAC founder Tony Lyons. “They are angry at the DNC for attempting to disenfranchise them, eager to support an honest Democrat and more open than ever before in American history to an Independent and honest candidate.”
Lyons said in an interview with Politico that he’s talking with Elon Musk, the top billionaire on the Forbes 400 list, about his support for the third-party candidate.
Kennedy’s Sister Isn’t A Fan
Moments after Kennedy’s official announcement, Kerry Kennedy denounced RFK’s bid for president as an independent.
“The decision of our brother Bobby to run as a third-party candidate against Joe Biden is dangerous to our country. Bobby might share the same name as our father, but he does not share the same values, vision, or judgment. Today’s announcement is deeply saddening for us. We denounce his candidacy and believe it to be perilous for our country,” Kerry Kennedy posted on Twitter this morning.
Though both political parties are keenly interested in Kennedy, but the Democrats seem more concerned than the Republicans about Kennedy pulling votes from their candidate.
