Mike Johnson, a staunch conservative MAGA guy, was officially appointed as the House Speaker this morning, ending the weeks-long circus to replace McCarthy.
It made Trump pretty happy.
The former president praised the decision to install Johnson, saying he will be a “great Speaker” on Truth Social, without going into further detail.
Johnson, from Louisiana, was the fourth speaker nomination. The fourth time’s the charm.
Republicans refused to accept less conservative speakers until Mike Johnson’s relatively easy confirmation. Democrats criticize Mike Johnson as being a supporter and architect of Trump’s failed attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
With a 221-212 majority over the Democrats in the House, Johnson won 220-209.
